did Tanner really just suggest that Teravainen is a top 10 forward in the entire league.....or did I read that wrong?

he's an elite level two-way forward that nobody ever talks about.

He's easily the best all-around forward on the Hurricanes. Kills penalties, runs the powerplay, creates turnovers all over the ice, can play all three forward positions.... He's tremendous.

He's just very quiet in how he goes about his business, so he doesn't get much love.

It's between he and Hamilton as to who has been the Canes MVP this year so far.

According to the ever knowledgeable posters on the Flyers board, the answer is simple:

I am in NO WAY suggesting that he's not a very very good player......I am very strongly suggesting that there is literally no chance that any rational person puts him anywhere near a list that has the top 10 NHL forwards on it.

He's currently producing at the same rate as Patrick Laine and John Tavares.

List your top 10 forwards in the NHL right now.

in no particular order, right off the top of my head

McDavid
draisaitl
mackinnon
Matthews
barkov
malkin
panarin
kucherov
pastrnak
marchand
stone
kane
eichel
scheifele
ovechkin
crosby

i'm sure there are quite a few in there who i'm forgetting that I would take ahead of teravanen.

again, not saying he isn't a great player, but he's not in the upper echelon of NHL frowards

Not a bad list. I'd agree that I don't think Teuvo produces enough to be in that upper echelon, just that I don't think he's as far out of it as a lot of people would believe.

I definitely don't think he's far out.....he probably cracks my top 25-30. and he's still young, and getting better every year

reminds me a lot of what Stone was in Ottawa......very underrated

That is a perfectly timed comment, and not a far-fetched nomination. Chicago Blackhawks 1st round pick Phillip Danault that was traded to Montreal for 37 year old Thomas Fleischmann and Dale (frank)ing Weise by the one and only Stan Blowman!

Guys who are probably going to win are Bergeron or Kopitar.

Maybe even Hossa. He has yet to be on the ice for a goal against for Arizona

While points shouldn't be required for the Selke, the fact ZAR's offense is so weak the team can't afford to put him out for more than 15 minutes a game means he really doesn't belong in the conversation with guys who are playing at a similar defensive skill level for 20 minutes a game.
